You've been entered to win a winter getaway to the Adirondacks! Good luck!
Adirondack Hub
As a basecamp for Adirondack adventures, the Adirondack Hub, including the charming towns of Newcomb, Schroon, North Hudson, and Minerva, combines great opportunities for outdoor activities and indoor relaxation. If snowboarding or alpine skiing is your thing, or you've ever wanted to learn, head to Gore, location of the most ski-able acreage in the state on more than 100 trails. Cross-country skiers and snowshoers will find a seemingly endless selection of trails perfect for hitting the snow, including in the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness, an area of more than 46,000 acres of lakes, streams, mountains, and truly beautiful forest. Enjoy the forest scenery at a faster pace on a snowmobile, whether you take an afternoon ride or spend a few days touring and stopping in historic hamlets for a night in a cabin or bed and breakfast.
AUTHENTICALLY ADIRONDACK LODGING, DINING, AND GREAT MUSIC
Hamilton County
You know that the Adirondacks are big, but did you know that Hamilton County lies entirely within the Adirondack Park? That's plenty of room — including frozen lakes and protected forest — to explore and indulge in your favorite winter activities. There is skiing and riding at family-favorite Oak Mountain, and an extensive network of snowmobiling trails that add up to more than 750 miles of fun. The snowmobiling here is simply awesome. Events celebrating winter abound: snowmobile races in Indian Lake, Inlet, and Speculator, Long Lake's Winter Carnival, Maple Fest, and plenty of fishing derbies. The holiday season provides craft fairs, holiday strolls, tours, and plenty of good cheer, making it a great time for a winter getaway. Stop at a local inn or tavern for a great meal, and enjoy the gorgeous wilderness.
STAY, DINE, AND SNOWMOBILE INTO WINTER
Lake Champlain Region
Every winter, the landscape along the Lake Champlain shoreline transforms into a wintry paradise, offering trails on rolling hills, a lot of space for ice fishing, and cool — literally — attractions the whole family will enjoy. The Champlain Area Trails (CATS) system is more than 40 miles of trail on a variety of terrain, perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The varying length of the CATS trails means that you can enjoy an hour out on the trail or a full day, savoring views of lakes and mountains along the way. Fat tire biking is another fun option for winter adventurers, and gaining in popularity. The bikes, featuring wide, knobby tires great for all terrain including snow, are easily rented throughout the Adirondacks. Ice fishing fans will love the area, too, which is known for big fish and big fun.
IT'S TIME FOR A GETAWAY, JUST THE TWO OF YOU
Lake Placid
Olympic-sized fun is the motto in Lake Placid, host to not one but two Winter Olympic Games. Get in on the winter sports action with skiing at Whiteface Mountain, try the bobsled and luge runs or snowshoe at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, and tour the famous Olympic Center. You can even lace up a pair of skates and glide your way around the Olympic Oval, the same spot where Eric Heiden famously won five gold medals in 1980. Unique shops and restaurants line Main Street and overlook Mirror Lake, which in winter turns into a hub of activity. Ride a toboggan down a 30-foot chute onto the ice, skate, join in a pick up hockey game, enjoy an exhilarating dogsled ride, or simply walk around the lake and enjoy the views. You might not win a gold medal, but you will achieve winter vacation perfection.
LEGENDARY LAKESIDE DINING, LODGING, AND SHOPPING

Titus' magic carpet brings riders of all ages — grown ups love tubing too! — back up the hill, meaning all you have to do is enjoy the ride. Great trails through dense woods and over wide-open fields lure snowmobilers every winter, and trailside cabins and restaurants dot the landscape, providing riders with everything they need. Winter events include holiday festivals, special movie showings in a historic theatre, snowmobile races, and the annual Empire State Winter Games. DECIDEDLY DIFFERENT LODGING AND DINING AWAIT
Tupper Lake
Tupper Lake has made a name for itself as a family-friendly destination year-round, and winter has plenty of snowy appeal. Families eager to enjoy winter scenery can enjoy free cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat tire biking at the groomed network of the James C. Frenette Recreational Trails. The annual Brew-Ski is a fun and authentically Adirondack mixture of cross-country skiing and craft beer from brewers around the Adirondacks. Winter weekends mean visits to The Wild Center, a natural history museum that features interactive exhibits on Adirondack wildlife and ecology, including adorable resident river otters. The Wild Center's trail system offers scenic opportunities to snowshoe either solo or on a guided tour with a naturalist. Spend the day snowmobiling to a frozen lake or pond and fish for that next big trophy. No matter how you spend your day, end it at one of the town's friendly restaurants or craft breweries, lingering with the kids over a hot pizza and awesome memories.
OTTERLY FUN SKIING, CLASSIC LODGING, DINING, AND MORE
Whiteface Region
When it comes to inspiring views and exhilarating adventure, the Whiteface Mountain area has it all: daring slopes, quiet glades, Santa's Workshop, a billion year-old gorge and wildlife. Alpine skiers adore Whiteface Mountain, 5th highest mountain in the state, and its many trails, fun for everyone from the total novice to expert skiers who love double black diamonds. Just below the mountain, forest trails offer opportunities for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing with views of the Ausable River and the surrounding mountains. Our attractions are totally unique, too. The Adirondack Wildlife Refuge is home to rescued wild animals that now help educate visitors about Adirondack wildlife. Stroll through the woods to admire wolves, black bears, and bald eagles. Over the river and through the woods, High Falls Gorge features walkways and overlooks in a river gorge that was created more than one billion years ago. It's great for adventure and romance! The apres ski scene is alive and well with delicious options for great food and craft beer throughout the region. The flavors here are so good you might have a hard time leaving your fireside table to get back out onto the slopes!
